Elected Executive Board, Scientific Committee

  • Currently I am serving on a 3 year term for the scientific committee through RJOS

  • The scientific committee maintains relationships with industry to support our grant and fellowship programs, reviews grant and fellowships and some scholarship applications and works to expand the research arm of RJOS

  • We also serve as the liaison to CORR, the official journal of RJOS

Elected Task Force Member, American College of Surgeons and the Committee on Medical Student Education

  • Work with ACS’s cohort of medical students and faculty to revise and revamp the ACS page “So you want to be a surgeon” 

  • Currently,  I serve as the Medical Student Task Force leader- where I help to organize, plan, and delegate projects for the ACS  

  • On 5/2/22, I had the privilege of presenting an update to program directors across the country on the resources ACS has made available to increase education opportunities to students​

  • Surgeon task force moderators are highly regarded in their respective fields: Dr. J Lau, Dr. N Keric, and Dr. S Yang

Missouri State Medical Association (2020 - 2023)

Vice Counselor, Executive Board Missouri State Medical Association

Currently, as Vice Counselor I:

  • Attend all regional liaison meetings

  • Advocate on behalf of the Med student section (MSS) of MSMA

  • Speak with representatives to further promote health for all Missourians 

  • Write, edit, and help propose resolutions to increase access to care and coverage for all MIssourians 

I previously served as the secretary and treasurer for 2 years, where my duties included:

  • A) Maintain and update the email listserv member database
  • B) Update the MSMA website’s medical student leadership contact page once per year with the assistance of the MSMA staff contact
  • C) Keep all membership records and work in the State and AMA divisions of Membership (as required)
  • D) Record and distribute minutes of all Governing Council and MSMA-MSS meetings
  • E) Prepare a report to be included in the designated area of Missouri Medicine on the proceedings of the MSMA-MSS on a regular basis

     

University of Missouri School of Medicine (2019 - 2023)

Elected Member & Secretary, Dean’s Advisory Council on Medical Student Research

  • Council meets monthly with the dean of research to determine the best ways to improve research experiences and opportunities at the School of Medicine

  • Allocates money to different student research projects based on the current research budge

  • Updates RedCap- MU Health System's online catalog for all research projects that are currently underway, or projects that need help getting off the ground

Missouri State Medical Association (2020 - 2023)

Class Elected Representative, Committee for Respect and Civility in the Learning Environment

  • Meet monthly with the committee of students, deans of SOM, and faculty members of MU Health  

  • Discuss any claims of mistreatment within the workplace

  • Determine which consequences or changes to the work environment must be made to address issues of safety and respect 

  • Work with the LCME to ensure MU Health is a safe and respectful environment for all

Secretary, American Medical Women’s Association

  • Currently as secretary I 

    • Send updates to the National AMWA board 

    • Coordinate and contact faculty and staff members for AMWA’s annual mentor dinner open to all female medical students and female faculty in every department  

  • MS1-2 year I was fundraising chair where I 

    • Coordinate >40 orders for care packages for 1st and 2nd year medical students 

    • Shop and gather supplies for care packages and make and deliver care packages during each exam week 

University of Missouri School of Medicine (2019 - 2022)

National Leason, American Medical Women’s Association

  • As national leason:

    • I work with the Mizzou AMWA chapter as well as the regional AMWA to help bridge the gap

    • I also previously served as the region 7 AMWA director, where I coordinated the regional AMWA meeting and helped to unify students across the region 

  • Previously as secretary: 

    • Sent updates to the National AMWA board
